A car from Komodo International Airport (LBJ) to your hotel in Labuan Bajo is priced per vehicle, not per person, and the fare depends on which zone your hotel sits in: town and waterfront, hillside, or the Waecicu and Batu Gosok coast. As of 2026 our indicative one-way fares start at around USD 10 for a Toyota Avanza into town and rise to roughly USD 35 for a Hiace out to Waecicu. The number is quoted in writing on WhatsApp before you fly, and it does not move because your flight landed late or your bags were heavier than expected.
Why do online listings show wildly different prices for a Komodo airport car?
Large aggregators list Komodo Airport car rentals with headline figures that can reach four digits. Those numbers are usually totals for a multi-day self-drive hire over a filtered date range, sometimes with insurance tiers and platform fees folded in. They are not the price of one ride from the terminal door to your hotel lobby. Before comparing anything, read what the figure covers: how many days, whether a driver is included, and whether fuel and parking sit inside or outside the quote.
Our pricing works the other way around. One vehicle, one zone, one written fare, driver and fuel included. If you want the car to stay with you afterwards, that becomes a separate full-day car with driver booking rather than a surcharge bolted onto the transfer.
Which zone is my hotel in?
Labuan Bajo is small but vertical. Two hotels three kilometres apart can be a five-minute drive or a twenty-minute climb depending on the road. We group properties into three zones plus one outlying area.
Zone 1 — Town centre, waterfront and Marina
Everything along the main Soekarno-Hatta strip, the harbour front, the Marina area and the properties directly behind them. From the terminal this is typically 10 to 15 minutes. Most guests joining a boat the next morning stay here because the pier is walkable.
Zone 2 — Hillside and ridge properties
The hotels stacked on the slopes above town, including the Sylvia Hill area and the ridge roads leading up from the waterfront. Distance is short, but the access lanes are steep and narrow, and a few driveways cannot take a full-size minibus. If your hotel is up here, tell us the property name when you request a quote so we send a vehicle that can physically reach the entrance.
Zone 3 — Waecicu Beach and Batu Gosok
The north-coast resorts. Expect roughly 25 to 35 minutes from the terminal depending on road works and afternoon traffic through town. Some Waecicu properties finish with an unpaved final stretch, and a handful are reached by hotel boat from a jetty rather than by road. We confirm the correct drop point before your arrival day.
Beyond the zones — Golo Mori and the south coast
Properties toward Golo Mori and the southern bays sit an hour or more each way on mountain road. These are quoted individually rather than by zone, because the return leg is effectively a half-day for the driver.
Which vehicle should you book?
Luggage decides this more often than headcount. Divers and photographers travelling with two people and six bags need the same car as a family of five.
- Toyota Avanza — comfortable for 2 to 3 passengers with normal suitcases, or 4 travelling light. The default choice for a couple. See the Toyota Avanza rental page for the interior layout.
- Toyota Innova — 4 passengers with full luggage, higher ground clearance, noticeably better on the hillside and Batu Gosok approaches.
- Toyota Fortuner — the SUV option when you want more space per person or a higher seating position on the mountain roads.
- Toyota Hiace — 8 to 12 passengers plus dive gear or camera cases. Groups arriving together on one flight almost always land on the Toyota Hiace.
How the booking works
- Send your details. Flight number, arrival date and time, hotel name, number of passengers, number of bags. Message us on WhatsApp.
- Receive a written fare. We reply with the zone, the vehicle, and one total in USD, plus the equivalent in rupiah. Nothing is added later.
- Confirm. No prepayment is required for a standard airport-to-hotel run; you settle with the driver on arrival in cash or by transfer.
- Meet your driver. The driver waits at the arrivals exit with a name board. If you want the greeting inside the terminal with luggage assistance, add arrival meet-and-greet.
- Delays are covered. We track the flight. A late inbound aircraft does not change the agreed fare.

Is the price per person or per car?
Per car. Four people sharing a Toyota Avanza to a town hotel pay the Avanza fare once, not four times. This is where per-seat shuttle listings and per-vehicle charter pricing diverge most sharply for families.
What happens if my flight is delayed or diverted?
Flights into Labuan Bajo are weather-sensitive and afternoon diversions do happen. We monitor your flight number and hold the driver. If your aircraft is cancelled outright and you arrive the next day, we simply move the booking; there is no rebooking charge for a carrier-side change.
Can the same car take us onward the next day?
Yes. Many guests use the airport run to reach the hotel, then keep a car and driver for Cunca Wulang, the Mirror Cave route, or the long road to Ruteng and Wae Rebo. Tell us at the time of the transfer quote and we hold the same driver, which is easier than starting fresh with someone who does not know your schedule.
Do you carry dive gear, drones and oversized cases?
Yes, and this is exactly what to flag in your quote request. A single dive bag can change the recommended vehicle, and it is cheaper to book the right car once than to discover at the terminal that the luggage will not fit.
